something got out of hand
My name is Dimitri Derwael and somewhere in the fall of 2016 I decided to build a guitar that I couldn’t afford after thinkering with my own guitars and those of my friends. In 2017, right after the birth of my first daughter, I also gave birth to that first instrument.
(Un)Fortunately that Rickenfaker turned out to be a playable instrument and got me excited to build another one. Being a skateboarder for the majority of my life, I saw people online making things out of recycled boards. Lucky for me I had quit a collection of these broken and discarded pieces of hard rock maple ply-wood. I pasted them all together and soon after, my first skateboard-wood guitar was made and played extensively.

what gave her birth?
You can only built a certain number of guitars before they overflow your house. This is an issue every guitar player experiences in some form. Especially when you share that house with a family.
I wasn’t ready to stop building so when the first commisioned build came around the corner, I decided that maybe i should start a legitimate business. so looking back at when I birthed my first guitar, it was in a way fitting to name my business after my daughter. And so Elin-ore was born.
